Types of Rocks

Rocks  are those objects that are the result of a mass in which a series of elements of natural origin are inserted , presented physically, they are generally mineral components. The physical characteristics of the rocks are very variable in terms of size, shape and color, from the physical point of view. These are commonly found on land.

Types of rocks

Metamorphic rocks

This type of rock is the result of an external process where it is subjected to a strong amount of pressure, which causes it to change its physical structure and even combine with other types of rocks, resulting in a new type of rock. stone. The word indicates that a rock has undergone a metamorphic change precisely because of a pressure agent.

Types of metamorphic rocks

quartzite rocks

Those rocks that have within their physical component predominantly sandstone that is made up of quartz elements are classified as such. These are formed when they are naturally subjected to a type of metamorphosis process. The final rock that is obtained is usually known as quartz.

Schist rocks

This type of rock during geological life, has undergone a series of physical transformations and in its properties in the minerals that contain it. They are called that, when the original rock, in the face of a series of modifications, loses its original structure, forming a new rock, either by erosion processes or other types of metamorphic processes.

Gneiss rocks

These rocks are generally known as quartz, which undergo a series of alterations through a process called foliation in some areas of the mineral itself in the area of what is called white bands. Generally, this type of modification occurs due to a continuous pressure to which these rocks are subjected when they are inside the earth’s crust.

Marble

They are produced when, within a process of metamorphosis, carbonate minerals are added as components to a rock in formation, giving it, for the most part, a crystalline appearance, although not transparent. In most cases, earthy colors predominate in these rocks. They are highly used rocks in the construction industry.

Rocks Slates

This is how rocks that come from clay are known, which have suffered, due to external factors, a series of alterations in their physical properties and in their own minerals. When they are found by human beings, they are often found imprinted on these rocks, what is known as fossil remains that provide data on the geological life of the earth.

Igneous rocks

They are classified in this group, to those rocks that are the result of a direct process of a smelting process that, when cooled, form the rocks within a magma eruption. This cooling process occurs precisely when the lava comes to the surface. Sometimes it happens that lava is cooled by what is known as a crystallization process within the magma itself.

Filonian Rocks

These rocks are formed when some cracks form within the crust of the magma itself and within them some crystals develop when the temperature gradually drops. They are usually very sharp crystal rocks because they fill precisely the cracks that are formed. This activity strengthens the structure of the magma itself.

Plutonic rocks

When a cooling process occurs within the magma, a crystallization process of some rocks is promoted. This, due to the high temperatures, develops slowly. However, at some point the rock does form. These are added to the interior of the magma itself, changing its structure.

Volcanic rocks

They are rocks well known to man. These are formed when a certain amount of lava comes out in volcanic areas and cools down. That is the origin of this type of rock. Being its origin the volcano, it is called that way. In most cases, the appearance of these rocks is that they show a dark color.

Sedimentary rocks

As their name suggests, these rocks are the product of a sediment process, that is, their origin is from the combination of a series of materials within a specific area of the earth’s crust, which forms what is known as called strata, that is, a series of layers that are added gradually and gradually.

Detrital rocks

These are the result of the accumulation of various pieces of other rocks that are added and forming that new rock, that is, conglomerate rocks, sandstone, clay, among others. These rocks can be easily found in the earth’s crust and its result is given by the different pressures that are presented to it, which gives rise to that new rock.

Organic rocks

This type of rock is formed from the accumulation of various organic elements that remain in the earth’s crust. For example, from the accumulation of algae and/or corals, under intense pressure, what is known as limestone is formed. As in that case, there are many types of rocks that occur naturally from decomposed living things.

Chemical rocks

They are formed from the sum of some components of chemical origin within a natural container where any type of aqueous solution is found, causing the creation of a limestone-type rock. This type of rock offers the human being what is known as a cement-like material that is used very frequently in the construction sector.
